Holiday rentals license

Preparing your property for vacation rentals?

If this is the case, you should consider the new Law on Tourism of the Balearic Islands 8/2012 of the 19th of July 2012, which entered into force on the 9th of August 2012.

For a property to be officially registered, the lesser (owner) of the property is required to apply for a license from the Tourism Authority (Department of Tourism).

Short term apartment rentals in apartment buildings or townhouses, which are divided into different units, are expressly prohibited and will result in heavy penalties.

Therefore, the holiday rental of apartments is prohibited and for single-family homes and semidetached houses a license would be required.

High fines are now being handed to those who, without having applied for the license in the Ministry of Tourism, rent their property as a holiday home. This makes us to inform our customers about the need to apply for this license previously to renting holiday homes in season (weeks or months) in Mallorca.

Those who want to apply through our partners can request the license here: Apply for the license
